TORONTO – Feb. 27, 2021 – PRLog — Sonorous Records will be releasing thirty eight songs from our HOB catalogue featuring The Brockington Ensemble. “Due to the number of songs we made a decision to make the releases available in four separate volumes” stated Ivan Cavric of Sonorous Records Inc. Each track has been remastered and digitally enhanced from the original recordings. Every effort was utilised to maintain the quality and the sound of the original songs by Kevin Gibson of Electric Dreams in Welland.
THE BROCKINGTON ENSEMBLE was founded early in 1963 by Professor Irvin Brockington, who had a dream to form a mass choir of area gospel singers. This vision became a reality as he brought together various singers and family members for vocal support. In November 1963, as a nation mourned the sudden death of J.F.K., the gospel world celebrated the birth of this great aggregation as they appeared in their debut concert. After this appearance, they received numerous bookings and became known for their grand entrance marches as well as hard hitting choral delivery.
Over the years, BROCKINGTON ENSEMBLE has spread the gospel message to the masses in various mediums including television and stage. They have appeared on local television as well as PBS and cable’s B.E.T. They have shared the stage with the Rev. RANCE ALLEN and the CLARK SISTERS in the gospel stage play “MOMMA DON’T”.
Professor Brockington and the Ensemble’s talents were recognized nationally by the late REV. JAMES CLEVELAND in 1967, when he asked them to participate in the forming of his GOSPEL MUSIC WORKSHOP OF AMERICA in Detroit, Michigan.
